## What groups do

Groups organize stakeholders for management and communication. Default groups are provided by Eqdeal; anyone with access to the company can also create a custom group, though renaming it or changing its membership requires editor access.

## Create and manage a group

Company sidebar → Groups

1. Choose New group and enter a clear name.
2. Open Manage users and add the intended stakeholders or child groups.
3. Review membership before using the group for communications or access-related workflows.

## Rename or delete

Use the group action menu. Company editors can rename or delete a custom group; protected default groups cannot be treated like ordinary custom groups. Adding a member, an invite, or removing a member each carry their own access requirement, so an editor who can rename a group may still be blocked from an individual membership action.

## Groups and permissions are different

Membership can organize stakeholders and support selected communication or access workflows, but it does not automatically make every member a company editor or administrator. Verify the specific access effect wherever a group is selected.

## Review membership before reuse

Before selecting an existing group for a report, publication, or communication, open it and confirm every direct member and child group. Remove outdated membership deliberately and check that protected or default groups still represent their intended population.
