## What a connection controls

A Matchmaking connection records the relationship and can unlock contact or profile information according to the active product rules. It does not grant company-administrator access, cap-table access, or broader Eqdeal permissions.

## Request a connection

1. Confirm that you are acting from the intended company or investor profile.
2. Review the target profile and the reason for connecting.
3. Send one clear request and verify that its state becomes pending.
4. Wait for the recipient’s response instead of creating duplicate requests.

## Respond to a request

Review the requester and the context visible to your profile. Accept only when the relationship is appropriate; choose Decline when you do not want the connection. Confirm the resulting state in Connections after responding.

## Connection states

- **Pending** — the other party has not completed its response.
- **Approved** — the relationship is active under the available Matchmaking access rules.
- **Declined** — the request was declined and should not be treated as active.

**Keep permissions separate**

If a connected investor needs company documents, reports, or cap-table access, grant that access through the specific company or investor workflow. A Matchmaking connection is not a substitute.
